What is BIM?

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a process for managing the building information produced during a construction project in a common format from the earliest feasibility stage through design, construction, operation and finally demolition. BIM allows construction professionals to explore key physical and functional characteristics of a project digitally before it's built. Using BIM to simulate real-world performance for a better understanding of the impacts on cost, schedule and sustainability allows construction teams to identify and resolve problems early in the design phase.

Why BIM?

In 2011 the UK Government published its Construction Strategy. The objective of the Construction Strategy 2011 is to accelerate the adoption of BIM throughout the UK construction supply chain. The requirements by 2016 are for all centrally procured Government projects to be a fully collaborative 3D BIM (with all project and asset information, documentation and data being digital).

Lloyd Worrall Group BIM Objects

LWG can now boast a library of Interspec Doorset COBie compliant BIM objects which can be downloaded below.

Our Interspec Doorset collection of generic BIM objects have been created for us by bimstore.co.uk and cover single, double and leaf and a half variations with the full range of fire ratings, material variations and parametric features that help specifiers design within the limits of the system.

LWG BIM objects also offer user selectable ironmongery sets based on the function of the space in which the door is to be used. 6 ironmongery variants are available, making them the only BIM objects currently in wide circulation to feature such a characteristic.
