Somerton House

Sector: Health, hospice

Solution: Interspec Doorsets and Door Automation

Location: Belfast

The Northern Ireland Hospice, Somerton House is a state-of-the-art building caring for patients with a wide range of life limiting illnesses. The hospice encompasses an 18-bed patient unit and a day hospice facility.

Lloyd Worrall worked closely with the Client and design team to provide a single source, fully integrated performance doorset and door automation package.

Different areas of the development required different door finishes. We supplied a mix of factory-fully painted, laminate and veneer Interspec Doorsets with PVC lippings to safeguard the doors against equipment traffic.

To help control the spread of infection to the bedroom areas of the hospice an anti-microbial finish was applied to the stainless steel ironmongery.

The door automation brief had to meet legislative requirements and allow safe access and egress for all users of the building.

Lloyd Worrall installed and commissioned (to BS EN 16005) fully automatic bi-parting main entrance doors and automatic swing door operators to the internal corridor doors. We worked alongside the M&E Contractor to ensure compatibility of our automation package and their access control system.
