Providing high performance, FSC® timber doorsets and screens to the new-build school

Lloyd Worrall has worked closely with the main contractor to provide high quality learning facilities by delivering a single source, coordinated supply of a fully integrated doorset package.

The Duchess’s Community High School is a co-educational secondary and sixth form located in Alnwick, Northumberland.

Lloyd Worrall supplied 230 high performance, FSC® certified timber doorsets in a variety of fire and acoustic ratings to meet the intensity of use doors face in a student environment. The doors offered a severe duty rating, which is particularly suited to areas of heavy footfall such as schools and colleges.

Formica® laminate facings were selected in Storm Grey with exposed beech lippings and beads. The doors incorporated certified 30 minute fire doors and up to 45 RwdB acoustic rated glazed screens.

The doors were finished in Formica® Storm Grey laminate. The Storm Grey laminate is complemented with exposed beech lippings and glazing beads for an array of door types, including circulation and stairwell doors, conference, hall and office doors, classrooms, dance studios, music and laboratory doors and oversized sports hall doors.

We also specified and supplied NFR, FD30 and acoustic glazed screens as part of the doorset package. 74 integrated side screens and 105 standalone screens allow natural light to flood internal spaces, resulting in an airy and bright learning environment.

Co-ordinated stainless steel ironmongery was specified to fully comply with our door certification parameters, ensuring that the 30 minute fire resistance and acoustic performances were maintained. Satin stainless steel handles, door furniture, locks and door closing devices, are all sufficiently robust for heavy traffic areas.
