Interspec doorset solutions help to create a vibrant nursery space
Lloyd Worrall helps to provide a safe and stimulating environment that supports the growth and development of young children
The Ladybird nursery ethos is to provide high-quality childcare with a strong family ethos. They believe in creating a warm, nurturing and home-from-home environment, allowing each child to fulfil their potential in the early years.
Lloyd Worrall has recently supplied Interspec Doorsets to a brand-new Ladybird nursery in Chalfont St Peter.
Previously an office space, the building has been totally renovated to create a purpose built, state-of-the-art nursery across two floors, offering an inspiring early years environment. The nursery will accommodate up to 70 children daily between the ages of 3 months and 5 years.
Facilities include bright, warm and homely rooms – purposefully designed for each development stage, two secure outdoor play areas and a bespoke sensory room filled with light, colour, texture and sound, allowing children to develop and engage their senses.
Working in partnership with the Client and Safehinge Primera, Lloyd Worrall specified a series of Interspec Doorset solutions. For this environment, the products specified needed to be fully compliant, fit for purpose and robust. With young children using the facility, products need to be built to last and ensure users can move around safely and easily.
Lloyd Worrall provided lacquered oak veneer doorsets for the circulation doors. Known for their durability and easy to clean properties, a range of laminate faced doorsets in deep, rich colours of blue, red, green and yellow, were supplied to each of the development stage rooms, creating a welcoming and warm environment whilst subtly introducing primary colours into the space.
With access and safety for young children of paramount importance, protecting them from accidently trapping their fingers in doors is a crucial specification consideration. Our strong business relationship with Safehinge Primera ensured doorsets were supplied with an integral finger guard system, complete with a concealed door closer to remove the dangerous gap between door and frame.
A key benefit of Interspec Doorsets is that they are supplied complete with factory preparation and installation of non-projecting ironmongery. While not only reducing the amount of on-site workmanship required, this also means the risk of specifying incorrect ironmongery is significantly reduced and ensures that all products are fully certified.
Ironmongery products specified include door closers which deliver a low opening force while providing sufficient closing forces to satisfy fire legislation, and DIN standard lock cases delivering a strong locking solution for doors.
Other solutions included high-level handles to prevent easy opening by small children, and where appropriate glazed screens and side screens for safeguarding and cross-room supervision.
Eshan Bhatia, Managing Director of Ladybird Nurseries, said: “We are delighted with the doors and really appreciate that your teams are always available on the end of the phone and happy to help, and we look forward to working with you on future projects.”
Discussing the project, Stuart Griffiths, Solutions Manager at Lloyd Worrall adds, “On a project like this, it’s not just about the products, but also the added value that the team can provide. Performance guarantees, door scheduling, strong supplier relationships and an understanding of how the building will work for its users is invaluable”.
“The partnership Lloyd Worrall has with its suppliers’, and the technical support providing by our doorset team was critical to supporting Eshan’s ethos. We’re delighted to have been involved in helping to provide a safe and stimulating environment that supports the growth and development of young children.”
