Established in 2005, WDH is now one of the UK’s largest social housing providers, with over 32,000 homes across the Wakefield and wider operating area across the North of England.
Farfield Court in South Elmsall has recently been modernised and refurbished throughout to create a relaxing and comfortable environment while catering for a wide range of people’s needs.
Great care has been taken to ensure our doorset and handrail and balustrade solutions took into consideration the abilities of the end-users. It is important that the accommodation is fully accessible in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 while ensuring fire and safety regulations are met.
Warm beech veneered doorsets were supplied in a range of NFR, FD30 and FD60 Interspec Doorsets to communal and circulation areas together with FD30 fire rated screens to the communal lounge entrance. The doorsets were supplied complete with stainless steel ironmongery including hinges, lockcases, door furniture and door closing devices. Low opening force cam action closing devices and electromagnetic hold open door closers allow easy movement around the building but ensure the fire doors perform as intended.
Our H&B Division supplied and installed hundreds of metres of Interspec timber and stainless steel system to staircases and corridors throughout the scheme.
The Interspec timber and stainless steel balustrade system allows the flexibility to combine the two materials, beech timber handrails with stainless steel ends and brackets. This was an ideal solution for Farfield. The H&B system linked with other interior design features – namely the door faces and door hardware – and has created a homely feel while also giving vital support and safety to users as they navigate around the building.
The staircases feature clear toughened 10mm glass, allowing light into the stairways, but ensuring stringent safety standards to achieve 1.5kN loading.
